esign Guide 1: Bolting in structural steel connections
Design Guide 1
contains both design information and practical information on the types of structural bolts used in structural steel connections in Australia at the present time.
The design guide provides information on dimensions, design, specifications for bolts, certification of bolts, fabrication and erection issues related to bolts and bolting.
It is aligned with AS 4100-1998 and supersedes AISC "Bolting of steel structures", 3rd ed., 1990.
Design Guide 2: Welding in structural steel connections
Design Guide 2 contains practical information on the welding processes used to fabricate structural steel connections in Australia at the present time.
It does not however contain design information.
The guide is aligned with AS 4100-1998 and AS 1554.1-2004 and is intended to be a basic primer on all aspects of welding as applied to structural steel connections.
Design Guide 3: Web side plate connections
Design Guide 3 covers the web side plate connection, a simple connection in terms of AS 4100-1998. It references Handbook 1 for a number of design solutions used in the recommended Design Model for the web side plate connection and is aligned with AS 4100-1998.
The design guide describes the web side plate connection, provides generalised detailing for the connection, a recommended design model involving 10 separate design checks, two design examples and 6 design capacity tables derived for a selected geometry using the recommended design model.
This publication supersedes two sections in AISC "Design of structural connections" by Hogan, T. J. and Thomas, I. R., 1994.
Design Guide 4: Flexible end plate connections
Design Guide 4 covers the flexible end plate connection which is a simple connection in terms of AS 4100-1998. It references Handbook 1 for a number of design solutions used in the recommended Design Model for this connection.
Design Guide 4 describes the flexible end plate connection, provides generalised detailing for the connection,
a recommended design model involving ten separate design checks, one design example and four design capacity tables derived for a selected geometry using
the recommended design model.
Design Guide 5: Angle cleat connections
Design Guide 5 covers the single and double angle cleat connection which is a simple connection in terms of AS 4100-1998.
It references Handbook 1 for a number of design solutions used in the recommended Design Model for the angle cleat connection.
This design guide describes the connection, provides generalised detailing for the connection, a recommended design model for both single and double angle cleats,
each involving ten separate design checks, two design examples and ten design capacity tables derived for a selected geometry using the recommended design model.
Design Guide 6: Seated connections
Design Guide 6 covers four types of seated connections which are all simple connections in terms of AS 4100-1998. It references Handbook 1 for a number of design solutions used in the recommended Design Models for seated connections.
This design guide describes each type of seated connection, provides generalised detailing for the connection, a recommended design model for each, one design example for each connection type but no design capacity tables.
